Addressing the people of Oyam at Anyeke St. Peter’s in Oyam town council, Chairperson Dilla recently emphasised the need to eliminate the widespread buying and selling of jobs in the district.

He pointed out that such activities had been prevalent in the past, resulting in arrests, and warned that anyone caught engaging in these practices would face the full force of the law.

Dilla also advised applicants not to sell their property in an attempt to raise money to purchase jobs. He assured them that interviews would be conducted for all applicants, and positions would be awarded based on merit.

In conclusion, Dilla noted that the Oyam District Service Commission had recently advertised several positions, including 17 for nurses, 20 for midwives, 42 for teachers, and internal positions for parish chiefs and teachers. He reiterated that these positions were not for sale.

Speaking to our reporter, Otyeno expressed concern over the ongoing issue of job buying in Oyam, where large sums of money are being demanded. However, when he attempted to question the applicants and those asking for money, they refused to disclose any information.

This prompted Otyeno to issue a stern warning that anyone caught buying or selling jobs in Oyam would face imprisonment, as such actions bring shame to the district.

In conclusion, Otyeno stated that this practice was one of the reasons Oyam fails to recruit competent employees. He explained that individuals who acquire jobs through bribery lack respect for others, driven only by their financial investment.
