As the National Resistance Movement (NRM) opens its five-day nomination window for aspiring LC III and parish/ward councillors, veteran journalist and community advocate Ambrose Roy Ocira has officially declared his candidacy for the Kulakula Parish male councillor seat ahead of the 2026 general elections.
At 8:43 AM on Tuesday, 29 July 2025, Ocira arrived at the NRM office in Oyam, accompanied by enthusiastic supporters, to collect his nomination form—firmly dispelling rumours that he had withdrawn from the race.
Ocira cited urgent challenges facing Kulakula Parish—including deteriorating feeder roads, limited access to healthcare, and high school dropout rates—as key motivations for his candidacy. He attributed these issues to ineffective leadership and a lack of socio-political and economic insight among previous officeholders.
If elected, Ocira has pledged a results-oriented approach to representing Kulakula at the Ngai Sub-county Council. His manifesto includes:
Residents of Kulakula Parish have expressed strong support for Ocira’s candidacy, describing it as both timely and necessary. Some even likened his leadership potential to that of biblical figures, suggesting he could be a unifying force for progress in the parish.
Professionally, Ambrose Roy Ocira is a respected journalist with experience at Radio Apac FM, Radio Lira, and currently Shine FM Oyam, where he serves as Assistant Editor. He previously worked with World Vision Uganda, where he was actively involved in conflict resolution and community development initiatives across the region.
