Hon. Santa Alum Ogwang, Woman Member of Parliament for Oyam District, has reignited hope among residents following the commencement of road rehabilitation works connecting Kamdini Sub-county in oyam District to Kiryandongo District.

The road, whose construction began this week in Kamdini Sub-county, links six villages including Tenam, Te-Tochi, Amukugungu, and others via Okwece to Kiryandongo District. This vital route supports various economic and social activities for the local communities.

Representing Hon. Alum at the launch, Bosco Ogwang Atoli emphasized that the road project is part of her development-focused manifesto, which transcends political boundaries. He urged all road users to safeguard the infrastructure as it benefits everyone regardless of political affiliation.

Local leaders and residents expressed deep appreciation for the initiative. James Acai, LC1 Chairperson of Amukugungu village, noted that the poor road conditions had previously led to business failures, school dropouts, and frequent accidents. He commended Hon. Alum for prioritizing community needs and delivering tangible results.

Jenet Idongo from Te-Tochi village highlighted the struggles faced by pregnant mothers, many of whom gave birth en route to hospitals due to the impassable road. She celebrated the ongoing improvements, describing Hon. Alum as a true agent of change and urging voters to support her in the upcoming elections.

Kenneth Ogwang, a resident of Kamdini living near the road, expressed joy at the rehabilitation efforts and called on Hon. Alum to extend her development initiatives beyond roadworks, citing past accidents that had occurred due to the road’s poor condition.

Susan Ogwang praised Hon. Alum as a compassionate and exemplary leader who has consistently stood by her constituents through both good and challenging times. She described her as a savior for the people of Oyam, noting her 15 years of dedicated service without fault.

Lucy Atim, a businesswoman from Amukugungu village, shared how the road’s poor condition had previously hindered her business operations, with high transport costs and missed opportunities. She thanked Hon. Alum for transforming the road and reviving local commerce.

Juliet, a teacher at Amaji Primary School, explained that the road’s potholes and stagnant water had discouraged pupils from attending school, making teaching difficult. She welcomed the rehabilitation as a major step toward improving education access.

Hon. Santa Alum Ogwang’s commitment to infrastructure development continues to uplift communities across Oyam District, reinforcing her legacy as a leader who delivers on her promises.
