Manhunt Underway in Oyam as Suspect Allegedly Hacks Intruder with Panga During Attempted Theft

Territorial police in Oyam District have launched a manhunt for a 24-year-old suspect, Aremo Tobby, who is accused of violently attacking Ojok Patrick, 26, during an alleged attempted theft in Akao-idebe “A” cell, Western Ward, Iceme Town Council.

According to preliminary reports, the incident occurred around 2:00 AM when Ojok Patrick allegedly attempted to steal cows from a semi-permanent structure at the home of Akullu Jusphine, the suspect’s mother. Upon being alerted, Aremo Tobby reportedly emerged from his house armed with a panga and inflicted multiple deep cuts on the victim—targeting his right knee, both legs, arms, and right rib.

The victim was left incapacitated and unable to walk. The case was formally registered at 9:20 AM by Akullu Jusphine at Iceme Town Council Police Station. The District Police Commander (DPC) of Oyam Sp job mutegeki and his team visited the scene, and Ojok Patrick was rushed to Anyeke Health Center IV for urgent medical treatment. A Police Form 3 was issued for medical examination, and statements were recorded from witnesses.

The suspect remains at large, though his identity is known. Authorities are actively pursuing leads and have appealed to the public for cooperation. Anyone with information on Aremo Tobby’s whereabouts is urged to advise him to report to the nearest police station to aid ongoing investigations.

North Kyoga Regional Police spokesperson SP Patrick Jimmy Okema confirmed that the suspect is still at large but efforts are underway to apprehend him.

Police continue to investigate the matter under charges of unlawful wounding.
