Ngai Senior Secondary School has regained its lost glory, recording growth in student enrollment, staff numbers, and modern infrastructure. This was revealed during the Parents Teachers Association (PTA) annual general meeting for the 2025 academic year, held on 27th November. The meeting brought together PTA members, board representatives, and local authorities, who all witnessed the school’s revival marked by new classrooms and laboratories.
Despite these successes, the school continues to grapple with challenges, including shortages of dormitories for both boys and girls, inadequate water supply, lack of transport, insufficient power, and unfenced premises.
Headteacher Janani Okot confirmed the challenges, noting that they have hindered progress despite achievements made in the last two years. He proposed the establishment of a PTA project to generate funds beginning in 2026, as earlier resolved by the committee.
PTA Chairperson Beatrice Auma Okello, who also doubles as Secretary for Education in Oyam District Local Government, explained that the committee had initially considered increasing school fees by 75,000 shillings per term, alongside a one-time contribution of a bag of cement. However, after a spirited discussion, parents agreed on a more modest increment of 41,000 shillings per term, plus a single bag of Tororo cement paid once.
Local authorities, including LC3 Chairperson of Ngai Sub-county Jimmy Anywar, Sub-county Chief Joel Atine, and GISO Walter Okello, extended thanks to the school authorities and parents for the great work done towards restoring the mighty learning institution. They promised maximum support going forward.
Board Chairperson Emmanuel Oyuku Ocen commended the PTA and School Management Committee for their initiative, saying the project will help address current challenges and enable Ngai SS to fully regain its excellence in academics, sports, and other areas.
