The outgoing LCIII Chairperson of Abok Sub County, Hon. Philis Ogile Jakayo, has today convened an Education Conference that brought together head teachers and their deputies from across the sub county.
The meeting, held in partnership with Oyam District Education Officer David Adea, focused on tackling the challenges behind poor performance in government primary schools. Hon. Ogile called on teachers, parents, and stakeholders to play their roles in raising education standards, stressing that collective effort is the key to better results. He further encouraged parents to support school feeding programs as a way of boosting learning in many schools across Abok. The conference, held at Abok Headquarters Church of Uganda, attracted a wide range of stakeholders, including parents. One of the head teachers appealed to parents to provide school requirements on time, noting that this would greatly enhance learning and improve classroom outcomes.

Speaking at the event, DEO David Adea urged head teachers to ensure teachers are consistently present in schools. He emphasized that when parents, teachers, and pupils each play their roles, education can flow smoothly, as seen in some of the better-performing schools in Abok. Adea also encouraged teachers to teach responsibly and remain committed to their duties. The Inspector of Schools in Oyam added that completing the syllabus on time allows teachers and pupils to focus on revision, which is critical for success. He urged teachers to “pull up their socks” and strengthen classroom delivery. According to the 2025 Primary Leaving Examination results, Abok Sub County ranked second last in Oyam District, just above Ngai Sub County. However, Hon. Ogile emphasized that progress is being made, citing reports from the District Inspector of Schools that show steps forward in improving performance. This marks the second Education Conference organized under Ogile Jakayo’s leadership as LCIII Chairperson a continued initiative aimed at transforming education outcomes in Abok Sub County.
