A seventeen‑member Ugandan business delegation, under the Celestial Billionaires Club, held a high‑level meeting with His Excellency Hakainde Hichilema, President of the Republic of Zambia, at Lusaka State House.
The delegation was led by Hon. Namayanja Rose Nsereko, Deputy Secretary General of the National Resistance Movement. Key participants included Patrick Ogwang Obura, MP‑Elect for Oyam County South in lango sub region; Dr. Benon Luggya of Maganjo Group of Companies; James Kayita of Hallmark Construction; and Godfrey Babi Kimera of City Sites Group, among others.
Discussions focused on strengthening bilateral business ties and exploring opportunities for mutual benefit between Uganda and Zambia. The Ugandan team also engaged with Zambia’s Minister of Trade and prominent business partners, laying the groundwork for enhanced cooperation in trade, investment, and development.
Following the talks, Uganda secured access to ready markets in Zambia for products such as soybeans, maize, powdered milk, millet, cassava, and goats.
Speaking from Zambia City of Lusaka, Patrick Ogwang Obura Mp elect for oyam south expressed his excitement about the knowledge gained during his stay in Zambia. He noted that he had learned valuable lessons in agriculture and education, which he intends to bring back to Lango Sub‑Region and Oyam District to foster development and create employment opportunities for the youth.
Ogwang emphasized the importance of religious leaders in community development, promising to connect them with government programs and encourage group initiatives to boost wealth creation.
On education, he highlighted his successful lobbying for 30 scholarships for Oyam South students to study at universities in Uganda. He further pledged to explore opportunities for students from Oyam South and Lango to study in Zambia, while also advocating for the establishment of factories, taking advantage of Zambia’s vast land resources and low population density.
