Police in the Aswa East Region have appealed to members of the public in the newly created administrative units to donate land for the construction of police posts.

The call was made by the Aswa East Regional Police Commander, SSP Okae Ben Geoffrey, during a press briefing at the regional headquarters in Kitgum town on Monday, 17th March 2025. He was responding to concerns from the public about the shortage of manpower in the region.

SSP Okae stated that the newly created administrative units are grappling with increasing crime rates, further compounded by the shortage of personnel. However, he noted that they have not been able to establish police posts, as communities in these sub-counties have not offered land.

He also mentioned that they are implementing the parish police model to enable cases to be handled locally before transferring the files to the regional headquarters.

SSP Okae emphasised that the force is committed to protecting lives and property, especially during this election period.

SSP Okae Ben Geoffrey called upon the public to act as watchdogs and report any suspicious individuals or activities in their areas to the security team for further action.
