Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA), a global humanitarian organization of the Seventh-day Adventist, has empowered 4 community-based organizations – CBOs in East Acholi with office equipment, with funding from Global Affairs Canada.
The four local CBOs received new HP laptop computers on Wednesday, presented by Mr. Daniel Onyanya, the Program Manager of the Together Project, at the ADRA office.
The CBOs include the Pader Concerned Women and Children Association (PACWA), located in Pader District, ACT-UG, in Lamwo; WOVOD, based in Kitgum Municipality; and the Center of Hope for Vulnerable Women and Children, found in Omiya Anyima Sub-county, Kitgum District.
Ms. Latoo Rose Mwaka, the executive director of the Pader Concerned Women and Children Association, thanks ADRA for strengthening the local organization and building its capacity.
She added that PACWA has been battling with report writing for the past few years since they do not have a laptop, but now their work will be easier.
Mr. Daniel Onyanya, the Project Manager, mentioned that alongside ADRA, he appeals to the local CBOs to address environmental issues as part of their role in combating environmental misuse.
He calls upon them to speak to the community about the dangers of using plastic bags and bottles and their impact on the environment.
