Mob lynches notorious thief in Lamwo district

A suspected thief was killed by a mob in Paloga central village, Paloga subcounty, Lamwo district, on Wednesday night.

According to the Aswa East Regional Police Commander, IP Joe Oloya, the deceased, Okwera Denish, 30, had joined his friends, Kabode Francis, Oloya John Bosco, and others for a normal drinking session on Tuesday night before a UPDF patrol team stormed the local bar owned by Obura David.

Oloya noted that as the UPDF patrol team approached the bar and ordered the DJ to stop the music, they discovered the body of Mr Okwera Denish lying unconscious in a pool of blood.

When they inquired about what had happened, the bar customers were unclear, prompting the soldiers to lock them inside the bar until morning.

Oloya said a case of suspected murder has been reported at Paloga Police Station, and five suspects have been arrested and detained at Paloga Police Station to assist with the investigation.
