One person was arrested and detained at Kitgum Central Police Station for presenting false documents during the police recruitment exercise on Tuesday, 29 April 2025.
The candidate, identified as Nyekorach Philip, was charged with forgery under Kitgum SD Ref: 32/29/04/2025.
However, according to Aswa East Regional Police Spokesperson, IP Joe Oloya, the exercise was conducted transparently and with the utmost integrity.
A total of 186 candidates attended the interviews out of 202 shortlisted from Kitgum District, comprising 65 females and 121 males. However, only 185 completed the entire interview process, as one individual was arrested for forgery.
The recruitment team was led by ACP Barugahare Christopher, with SSP Okae Ben Geoffrey, the Regional Police Commander for Aswa East Region, as his deputy.
The Kitgum District Resident District Commissioner (RDC), Mr Ssegawa Jimmy Ebil, and the Kitgum District Chairperson, Mr Arwayi Christopher Obol, later joined the exercise.
The process included a 5-kilometre body fitness test, medical examination, oral interviews, and an aptitude test.
Successful candidates will proceed with training at Kabalye Police Training School in Masindi District, starting on 6 June 2025.
