Kitgum district on Wednesday received the fifth consignment of essential drugs worth UGX 250 million from the National Medical Stores.
The consignment includes programme drugs for HIV and TB, anti-malarial medication, emergency medicines for sickle cell, as well as essential medical supplies such as gloves and syringes. This delivery is specifically designated for Kitgum General Hospital.
Mr Thomas Ojok, the Administrator of Kitgum General Hospital, commended the government for its continued commitment to ensuring a steady supply of medicines.
Mr Arwai Christopher Obol, the Kitgum District Chairperson, said that Kitgum General Hospital is fairly well stocked with medicines and encouraged patients to visit the hospital whenever they feel unwell.
The Kitgum Resident District Commissioner, Mr. Ebil Jimmy Ssegawa, commended the government for its tireless efforts in the health department and ensuring that Ugandans access quality health services.
He cautioned the hospital administration against charging patients and theft of government drugs.
