Minister Aber Lead car involved in Accident

A police officer attached to the State Minister for Relief, Disaster, and Refugees, Hon Lillian Aber, has been injured in a road accident along the Kitgum-Lira highway. The accident occurred early Monday morning at around 4:05 am in Pandwong Ward, Kitgum Municipality.

According to police reports issued by IP Oloya Joe, the Regional Community Liaison Officer and spokesperson for Aswa East Region, Police Constable Oluma Denis, attached to the VIP Protection Unit, was driving a white Nissan double-cabin vehicle, registration number UG 1010Z, when he lost control and knocked down an electric pole. The officer was heading towards the minister’s home in Alango East at the time of the crash.

Police suspect that over-speeding was the cause of the accident. The victim was rushed to Kitgum General Hospital for treatment, while the vehicle was towed to Kitgum Central Police Station pending inspection by the Inspector of Vehicles.

Oloya said the scene was visited by traffic police officers, and investigations are ongoing.
