Called to Serve Ministries, Barjere Branch, has donated 3,000 kilograms of maize flour, valued at nine million shillings, to vulnerable communities in Kitgum and Lamwo districts.
The donation, made possible through their missionary partners Rex and Malinda, enabled selected beneficiaries from all ministry branches to each receive 10 kilograms of maize flour.
Speaking during the distribution, Pastor Ronald Okumu, Director of Called to Serve Ministries – Barjere, said the donation comes at a critical time, as many families are grappling with food shortages, particularly in July before the harvest season.
He noted that despite limited resources, the ministry remains committed to promoting the social, spiritual, economic, and environmental well-being of the communities it serves. Pastor Okumu urged beneficiaries to use the maize flour wisely as they await the upcoming harvest.
One of the recipients, Jacky Anena, a mother of four, expressed her gratitude to the ministry for remembering them during challenging times. She pledged to use the maize flour responsibly and save money towards her children’s school fees while awaiting the harvest.
Another beneficiary, Okello Patrick, described the donation as a demonstration of love and unity fostered by the church among Christians. He called upon both believers and non-believers to come together in prayer for peace and spiritual growth in their communities.
