The Kitgum District Chairperson of the National Unity Platform (NUP), Hon. Ocaya Charles, has contributed UGX 1 million to support NUP Party President Hon. Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu (popularly known as Bobi Wine) during his campaign rally at DFI Grounds in Kitgum on Friday.

Hon. Ocaya, who previously contested for Member of Parliament for Chua West Constituency in the 2021 general elections under the NRM ticket but lost to Bosmic Joyce Otim, said the donation was meant to support his party president’s fuel needs and to dispel rumors that he lacks resources for campaign activities.

Currently, Hon. Ocaya is also contesting for the position of Mayor of Pager Division in Kitgum Municipality. He gained national attention in 2021 when he was arrested at the NRM registration office of Dr. Tanga Odoi, where he publicly cried out for justice.

Ocaya called upon the people of Kitgum and all Ugandans to “wake up for change” and work together to end dictatorship and improve the country’s governance.

Meanwhile, Hon. Robert Kyagulanyi, the NUP president—an artist turned politician—pledged to unite Ugandans and urged them to remain peaceful but firm in demanding change.
