Two Campaign Team Members of Hon. Lamwaka Mangret Odwar Detained in Kitgum

Two members of the campaign team of Hon. Lamwaka Mangret Odwar, including her chief campaign manager, are currently being detained by police in Kitgum District.

The two were summoned by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) on 23 December 2025 to record statements regarding allegations of inciting violence and attempted murder. The case relates to an incident that reportedly occurred on 20 December 2025 in Pela Village, Omiya Anyima Sub-county, Kitgum District.

According to police, the allegations claim that the Chairperson of NRM, Omiya Anyima West Sub-county, was assaulted during the incident, resulting in a fractured leg. The incident is alleged to have involved Hon. Lamwaka Mangret Odwar.

The chief campaign manager, Mr. Tonny Omal, and another campaign team member, Mr. Walter Nyeko Okello, were detained on Monday after recording their statements with the police.

The Kitgum District Police Commander, Mr. Peter Oyesigye, confirmed the detention of the two suspects. 

He stated that the detention is intended to allow police to continue with investigations. He added that once investigations are complete, the police will compile the files and submit them to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for further guidance.
