Three Killed In Suspected Arson Attack in Kitgum

Three people have been confirmed dead following a suspected arson attack in Bajere South Village, Labongo Akwang Sub-county, Kitgum District.

The deceased are Odida Michael, the head of the household, his wife Oyella Alice, and their 8-month-old child, whose name is yet to be established.

The Kitgum Resident District Commissioner, Mr. Jimmy Ebil Ssegawa, says the tragic incident occurred at around 2 a.m. on Friday, when the family’s house caught fire under circumstances believed to be criminal.

Mr. Ssegawa described the incident as unfortunate and condemned the act in the strongest terms.

He says scene-of-crime officers were already on ground by press time, as investigations continue, amid reports that more than 1,000 residents had gathered at the scene.

The RDC has urged the public to remain calm, avoid tampering with the scene, and cooperate with police by providing any information that may help establish the cause of the fire.

He assured residents that justice will be served.
