A total of 60 students who performed poorly under the new curriculum will not be allowed to return to Kitgum High School in the 2026 academic year. The affected students include 24 who were due to progress from Senior Three to Senior Four, and 36 who were expected to advance from Senior Five to Senior Six.

According to the Headteacher of Kitgum High School, Mr Opoka Christopher, the students failed to meet the required performance percentage. He also noted that some of them had cases of indiscipline.

In addition to barring the 60 students, the school has suspended the practice of students bringing mobile phones to campus.

Although learners are required to conduct research for project work, Mr Opoka advised them to use laptops or tablets instead.

He further urged parents to closely monitor their children’s behaviour and regularly discuss the importance of education with them.

Mr Opoka Christopher speaks on student exclusions and the mobile phone ban at Kitgum High School.
