UEDCL technician dies in road accident, colleagues injured

A technician attached to the Uganda Electricity Distribution Company Limited (UEDCL) in Kitgum has died following a road accident in Lapul Sub county, Pader District.

Denis Kibwota, popularly known as Boy and a resident of Pajule, passed away on Wednesday morning at Kitgum General Hospital after sustaining serious injuries in a crash on Tuesday evening along the Lanyatido–Koyo Lalogi road near Abunga West village.

The accident occurred as a UEDCL team was returning from installing a transformer at Koyo Lalogi Trading Centre in Lapul Sub county.

Joel Lakong, Manager of the UEDCL Kitgum Sub-Station, said the deceased was a part-time technician based in Pajule. He confirmed that the company is working with the police and the family on burial arrangements.

Lakong added that other staff injured in the crash are in stable condition and receiving treatment.
