The Country Director of ADRA Uganda, Mr. John Mwanza, has announced a nationwide charity run aimed at supporting the education of vulnerable girls in Agago District.

The ADRA Run 2026, scheduled for Sunday, May 10th, seeks to raise 200 million shillings to support 100 out-of-school girls to return to secondary education, provide 1,000 menstrual health kits, and establish safe spaces with psychosocial support for survivors of gender-based violence.

Speaking during the handover of the Together Project from the Straight Talk Foundation and the Mildmay Institute of Health Sciences to ADRA Uganda at Boma Hotel on Tuesday, Mwanza said the initiative is designed to reduce early pregnancies and school dropout rates, noting that about one in four girls aged 14 to 19 in Agago District becomes pregnant, often ending their education.

He emphasized that every girl child should complete at least Senior Four, urging parents to actively guide their children on the dangers of early pregnancy. Mwanza also called on local leaders to enforce by-laws regulating risky social activities, while encouraging parents to walk alongside their children in both life and education.

The run will be held in Kampala at Metroplex Mall Naalya, with satellite events in Kitgum, Kyaka, Rwamanja, Kotido, and Yumbe, featuring 10-kilometre, 5-kilometre, and children’s races.

The initiative is part of ADRA Uganda’s broader efforts to protect the rights and future of young people.
