Delegates from the UPC, along with supporters from various political parties, gathered to endorse her bid for reelection as the UPC flag bearer and Woman MP for Oyam District in the 2026 general election.
Addressing thousands of UPC supporters, delegates, and members of other political parties at Iceme Town Council, Hon Alum urged UPC members to entrust her with the party flag once again. She highlighted key achievements during her tenure, including the ongoing rehabilitation of roads across all 16 sub counties in Oyam District, the donation of ambulances, support for churches, and other community-driven initiatives. She pledged to continue serving the people of Oyam without discrimination if reelected.
Hon Alum emphasised the importance of road infrastructure, noting that every citizen needs accessible roads. Despite the district’s vast size, she reaffirmed her commitment to improving connectivity and development across Oyam.
She also reflected on her longstanding service to the UPC party, pointing out that she has represented the party with pride, even in Kampala. Her accomplishments in Parliament have raised Oyam District’s national profile, including her advocacy for the rehabilitation of Oryemapat Road, her ranking among Uganda’s top 10 performing MPs, and her role in championing the anti-homosexuality bill.
Tonny Okello Amute from Olok Village, Omolo Parish, endorsed Alum, commending her contributions to the health sector and urging supporters from other parties to rally behind her leadership. He cautioned that a change in leadership could result in setbacks for the district.
Madeline Okite, a delegate from Owak Village, Omolo Parish, attested to Alum’s integrity and impact, stating that her work speaks for itself. She pledged continued support not only during the primaries but also throughout the general election.
Vincent Ongom Wanduc from Amukugungu Village, Omiri Parish, described Alum as the true mother of Oyam District. He urged other aspirants to step aside in recognition of her achievements and called on UPC delegates to vote for her to ensure continued peace and development.
Emmanuel Odongo, popularly known as Odongo Otwal, expressed his unwavering confidence in Alum’s reelection. He described her as a grassroots leader who understands the community’s needs and urged UPC delegates in Iceme Sub county to stand firmly behind her in the upcoming elections.
