The National Resistance Movement (NRM) youth in Oyam District have secured all nine top positions in the recently concluded National Youth Council Association (NYCA) elections, held yesterday at the Electoral Commission office in Oyam Town Council.
Of the nine elective positions, eight were won unopposed by NRM candidates. The only contested seat was for Secretary of Finance, where Bzil Ogwal emerged victorious with 36 votes, defeating Abraham Omia, who garnered 9 votes.

Speaking to our reporter after being declared Chairperson for Oyam District, Maxwell Edwok expressed joy over his unopposed victory. He pledged to mobilise youth and supporters to rally behind NRM leaders, promising to address youth concerns and promote development.
Edwok emphasised that, despite opposition efforts to challenge their success, NRM youth prevailed. He vowed to ensure accountability and strong mobilisation to bring glory to the party in Oyam District.
Robina Acio, elected as UNSA Representative, highlighted the challenges students face, including a lack of resources and high dropout rates. She pledged to lobby for support to improve education standards across schools in the district.
Joshua Onyaa, a youth leader from Minakulu Town, pointed out election-related challenges, such as delays and procedural requirements from the Electoral Commission. He urged the newly elected leaders to prioritise youth programmes and ensure transparency and accountability.
Meanwhile, Oyam District Registrar Jackylin Adong commended the youth for conducting peaceful and successful elections. She encouraged the elected leaders to represent the district effectively at the upcoming regional delegation conference and praised the Electoral Commission for its transparency.
