As the 2026 elections draw closer, Hon. Santa Alum Ogwang has reignited hope among the people of Oyam with her pledge to continue transforming the district through tangible development projects. Addressing residents, Alum reminded the community of the milestones already achieved under her leadership and promised even greater progress if re-elected on January 15, 2025.
Among the key achievements highlighted were improvements in the health sector. Alum successfully lobbied for the upgrade of Anyeke Health Center IV into a General Hospital, purchased two ambulances to serve all communities without discrimination, organized dental health camps across Oyam South and North to improve access to specialized care, and donated mama kits to expectant mothers, reducing maternal health risks.
She also oversaw the rehabilitation of 38 roads across Oyam District, boosting transport and trade, and championed the creation of Aber District to bring services closer to the people. Alum recalled that when she first joined Parliament, Oyam had no electricity, but through her lobbying, power was extended to the district. She assured residents that more electricity is on the way to support businesses, schools, and government facilities, urging them not to believe those who claim otherwise.
In addition, Alum pledged to continue supporting VSLA groups, women’s associations, churches, and youth initiatives under the “Boli Cap” program, while extending help to vulnerable groups without segregation based on tribe, clan, or religion.
Hon Christ Ongom, political assistant to Hon. Alum and aspirant for Acaba Sub County LC5, while campaigning in Dog Apio, Wicoo Pe Buto NoNo, Ogwang Apura, and Obanga Angeo parishes, praised Alum’s contributions. He likened her to “Olam Alim” for the people of Oyam, citing her support for churches, VSLA groups, women’s groups, and expectant mothers.
Tonny Olang, UPC chairman for Iceme and chairperson of all UPC leaders in Oyam District, urged residents to vote for Alum, emphasizing her accountability and transparency.
Susan Nyana Olal, the Deputy Speaker of Oyam District, also serves as the NRM candidate for LC5 Councillor in Acaba Sub-county and is a strong supporter of the NRM party. She emphasized that this vote is not for playing and confirmed her commitment to vote for Alum Santa Ogwang because she is married in Oyam. She called on others to pledge their support for Alum, even though some people claim she might be chased away from the NRM if she campaigns for her. Susan pledged to support and campaign for Alum until the end, describing Alum as a true mother for all the people of Oyam District. She likened Alum to a “big cow with sweet milk” that can benefit all Oyam citizens. She urged all NRM party supporters to vote for Alum, affirming her full support until Alum’s victory.
Phillips Ogile Jakayo, LC3 chairperson of Abok Sub County and an NRM cadre, described Alum as a “special developer” for Oyam. He advised residents to accept money from other politicians but to vote for Alum, as she genuinely works for the district’s progress.
Terezina Angom of Oboloyibe village in Dog Apio Parish, Acaba Sub County, said Alum’s work speaks for itself. She called on the people of Oyam to vote for Alum with joy, to ensure continued support and development in the district.
