5-year-old gruesomely murdered in Agago

Police in Agago district are investigating the suspected murder of a five-year-old pupil from St Joseph’s Nursery and Primary School, who was a resident of Toolit village, Kiteny parish, in Ajali subcounty.

According to the police, on Friday, 25 April 2025, the deceased, Lakica Recho, left home for school with other children but disappeared without a trace. Her classmates searched for her in vain at school, and when they returned home, they still couldn’t find her.

Her parents were alerted, and a search was launched, but all efforts proved unsuccessful.

Aswa East Regional Police Spokesperson, IP Joe Oloya, explained that a report of her disappearance was made at Agago Central Police Station (CPS) as the search continued. He added that it was not until Monday, 28 April 2025, at around 6:00 PM, that her lifeless body was discovered in a bush at Lacan Kweri village by four youths who were hunting for wild birds.

The body was found lying naked in the bush, with one foot missing and maggots covering it. Oloya confirmed that Lakica’s body was taken to the mortuary for a post-mortem, while efforts to trace the suspects continue. He also stated that no suspect has yet been arrested.
