Four headteachers in Kitgum District have been cautioned by the District Education Officer (DEO), Mr. Lawot Fred, for failing to submit essential school data required for planning ahead of the next academic year.

The warning was issued during a meeting of all headteachers in the district, organized by the DEO. The meeting focused on reviewing the state of education in Kitgum, improving financial management among teachers, and strengthening teachers’ conduct and values within their communities.

According to Mr. Lawot, the required school data included learner enrollment, school budgets, work plans, and other key information needed for the district’s education planning. He noted that despite the district having already submitted its consolidated data to the Ministry of Education, the four schools had not provided their information on time.

Without revealing the names of the headteachers, the DEO expressed disappointment over what he described as “laziness,” saying it undermines the efforts of the education office and affects service delivery in the district. He called for immediate improvement, warning that headteachers who continue to neglect their responsibilities may face serious consequences.

The four schools whose headteachers failed to submit the required data are Okol Primary School, Locomo Primary School, Lodomo Yere Primary School, and Atim Kikoma Primary School. During the meeting held at Kitgum Matidi Seed Secondary School in Kitgum Matidi Town Council, the concerned headteachers were given only five minutes to submit the pending data.
