President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has pledged swift action to stop renewed cattle raids in Acholi Sub-region following reports of escalating attacks in Kitgum and neighboring districts.

Speaking during the 49th St Janani Luwum Day commemoration, the President promised tighter security deployments to protect communities and livestock.

He also thanked Acholi voters for supporting the NRM in the recent elections and pledged to expand wealth-creation programmes to the grassroots.

Kitgum District Chairperson, Mr. Arwai Christopher Obol, says Karamojong raiders have intensified attacks since January in Orom, Orom East and Kiteny sub-counties, increasing the risk of insecurity and poverty in East Acholi Sub Region.

Arwai also appealed for the upgrade of the Gulu University Kitgum campus into a constituent college, noting that land has already been donated and the campus has produced over 800 graduates since 2011.
