President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has pledged swift action to halt renewed cattle raids in the Acholi Sub-region, following reports of escalating attacks in Kitgum and neighbouring districts.

Speaking during the 49th St Janani Luwum Day commemoration, the President promised enhanced security deployments to protect communities and livestock.

He also thanked Acholi voters for supporting the NRM in the recent elections and pledged to expand wealth-creation programmes at the grassroots level.

Kitgum District Chairperson, Mr Arwai Christopher Obol, said Karamojong raiders have intensified attacks since January in Orom, Orom East, and Kiteny sub counties, heightening the risk of insecurity and poverty in the East Acholi sub-region.
