Newly ordained priests urged to remain attentive and compassionate

Rev. Fr John Baptist Kule, the Parish Priest of Bukangara Catholic Parish in the Diocese of Kasese, has called on the newly ordained priest, Rev. Fr Gidio Bwambale, to remain attentive, compassionate, and open-hearted in responding to all who seek spiritual guidance in his ministry.

Preaching during a thanksgiving Mass held at St John’s Minor Seminary in the Diocese of Kasese last weekend, Rev. Fr Kule urged Fr Bwambale, a member of the Congregation of the Blessed Sacrament and son of Mr and Mrs Aloysius Bwambale of Nyabirongo Cell in Kisinga Town Council, to serve without discrimination and to be especially attentive to what he described as “spiritual exiles” in need of pastoral care.

Rev. Fr Egidio Bwambale, a grandson of Mr Cyril Bwambale, told the congregation that from childhood he had always dreamed of serving God in a vocation that would take him beyond his home environment, including the aspiration of one day boarding an aeroplane in the course of missionary service.

He attributed his calling to the strong influence of his parents, who introduced him early to church life and nurtured his involvement in God’s work, particularly through active participation as an altar boy.

Presiding over the ordination Mass on Saturday, Bishop Kibira told the congregation that Rev. Fr Egidio, who began his formal education in 1999, pursued his studies with dedication over the years, eventually attaining a Master’s Degree in Pastoral Ministry, with a specialisation in Social Justice from St Carlos Major Seminary in the Philippines in March 2025.
