The police flying squad in the Albertine region shot and critically injured a suspected mobile money robber in Hoima City.

The suspect, Mr. Hamis Keya, 42, a resident of Wakiso District, is accused of masterminding a string of violent robberies targeting mobile money agents in Wakiso, Kampala, Luwero, Masindi, and Hoima.

It is alleged that Mr. Keya and others at large have been targeting mobile money operators, particularly during cash transportation, while armed with killer weapons, including guns and machetes.

On Saturday last week, he was sighted along the Kampala-Hoima road while riding on a Bajaj motorcycle registration number UMA 633GS before being intercepted near Hoima School of Nursing and Midwifery in Hoima city, forcing the flying squad detectives to shoot him in the right thigh as he attempted to flee, According to SP Julius Hakiza, the Albertine region police spokesperson.
