Kasese Woman MP calls residents to vote for NRM candidates at the local council elections.

Hon. Sarah Ithungu Baleke, the Kasese District Woman Member of Parliament, has urged residents across the district to vote for National Resistance Movement (NRM) candidates for LC I, LC II chairpersons, and Women Councils in the elections slated for July 28 and August 10, 2026.

Speaking to our reporter at Rwenzori Square in Kasese Town last weekend, Hon. Sarah said that effective implementation of government programs in Kasese may possibly be achieved by electing Local Council I leaders who understand the NRM ideology and manifesto at the grassroots level.

According to Hon. Sarah, monitoring and supervision of government programs largely depend on Local Council I and LC II leaders. She argued that electing opposition LC I leaders could, in the future, undermine the sustainability of government programs.

In a separate interview, Mr. Jafali Kigutiha, the incumbent Local Council I Chairperson for Basecamp Lower Cell in Kasese Municipality, say his dedicated service and efforts in combating crime in the area are a clear testament to why he deserves another term in office.

Kigutiha also downplayed fears that service delivery would be minimized, if opposition candidates were to win the LC I elections.
