The Kasese Municipal NRM Chairperson, Mr. Selevano Mulhondi, has dismissed allegations by the opposition Forum for Democratic Change that the NRM was ferrying people from other villages to meet village voter registration targets, describing the claims as “the last kicks of a dying horse.”
Mr. Mulhondi’s remarks yesterday come in response to accusations by the Kasese District FDC Chairperson, who alleged that an NRM-dominated voter registration exercise was blocking local FDC supporters from registering while transporting people from other villages and cells to register in their place.
In response, Mr. Mulhondi dismissed the allegations as a political fabrication intended to give Mr. Kabuku undue relevance; questioning the logic behind the claims because each village was conducting the same exercise simultaneously and that residents would ultimately vote for leaders in their respective localities.
Mr. Mulhondi later urged the local residents to ignore the allegations and actively participate in the voter registration exercise for the forthcoming Local Council I and II elections, which began yesterday and will run until July 10, 2026.
