It was an uncommon yet inspiring moment as Mr Julius Masereka chose the thanksgiving Holy Mass held in honour of Rev. Fr Mbusa Russiano Kyengerenza to fulfil his long-held dream of solemnising his marriage with Ms Sylvia Masika.

The unique decision, witnessed by hundreds of faithful at Kibisire Village in Kitabu Sub-county, Kasese District yesterday, was widely praised by Christians as a meaningful, faith-centred and cost-effective way of celebrating the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony.

During the thanksgiving Mass, Mr Masereka and Ms Masika exchanged marriage vows before the congregation, pledging to remain faithful to each other until death do them part.

Earlier, while presiding over the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony for the first couple he has officiated since his priestly ordination a day earlier, Rev. Fr Mbusa Russiano Kyengerenza reminded the newlyweds of their sacred responsibilities to remain faithful to each other, steadfast in prayer, and firmly rooted in Christ as they embark on their lifelong marital journey.

In a separate interview, Mr Julius Masereka said the decision to solemnise his marriage during the thanksgiving Mass was driven by his desire to make his relationship right before God, honour his wife and children, and demonstrate that financial constraints should not prevent couples from receiving the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony.

Meanwhile, the Member of Parliament for Bukonzo County East, Dr Julius Bwambale Rude, and his Kasese Municipality counterpart, Hon Ferigo Kambale, congratulated Rev. Fr Mbusa Russiano Kyengerenza upon his ordination to the priesthood, praising his commitment to serving God and humanity.
