Fatal road crash in Kasese claims motorcyclist’s life

Fatal road accident claims life of motorcyclist in Kasese

The Territorial Police in Hima Division, Kasese District, have registered a fatal road crash that claimed the life of a motorcyclist.

The incident occurred yesterday at around 4:00 p.m. at Kinyamwenge in Hima Town Council along the Kasese–Fort Portal Highway.

According to the Rwenzori East Police Region spokesperson, ASP Elly Maate, the crash involved motor vehicle registration number UBB 111A, a Toyota Corona, driven by Francis Gumisiriza, and motorcycle registration number UFM 851J, a Senke motorcycle ridden by a male juvenile identified as Birungi Faruk.

It is alleged that the juvenile rider made an abrupt U-turn in the middle of the road and was knocked by the vehicle. He fell and died instantly.

The scene was visited and documented by the Officer-in-Charge of Traffic, Hima Division, AIP Kategaya Naboth, and his team.

The body was conveyed to Kasese Municipal Mortuary for a post-mortem examination, while both the motor vehicle and the motorcycle were taken to Hima Police Station pending inspection by the Inspector of Vehicles.

Maate also cautioned that underage persons should not ride motorcycles or drive motor vehicles, as they are not yet able to make sound decisions while on the road.
