Priestly and Diaconate Ordination to be held in the next two days

With only two days remaining before the scientific Priestly and Diaconate Ordination scheduled for June 27, 2026, at St. John’s Minor Seminary–Kiburara, St. Matia Mulumba Ibanda Choir has entered the final phase of preparations to animate the Eucharistic celebration.

According to the ordination programme, the ceremony will be presided over by the Ordinary of the Diocese of Kasese, Rt. Rev. Francis Aquirinus Kibira Kambale, during which five deacons will be ordained priests while three candidates for major orders will be ordained deacons.

Speaking to our reporter shortly after the choir’s penultimate rehearsal at Ibanda Parish headquarters yesterday, the Parish Choir Chairperson, Mr. Godfrey Bwambale Isemanyangwa, said 50 choir members had been selected from a team of more than 100 to participate in the Mass to meet the standards and health guidelines for the scientific ordination ceremony aimed at preventing the spread of Ebola.

Some of the choir members said they are fully prepared to animate the Mass on Saturday, noting that they have benefited from the guidance of their trainer, Mr. Bernard Masereka, the former Diocesan Choir Master.

Earlier, Mr. Isemanyangwa urged choir members who were not selected for the ordination Mass to remain behind and continue rehearsing in preparation for future liturgical events.
