Caritas-Kasese donates to curb Ebola

Caritas Kasese has partnered with the Kasese District Local Government to support the fight against Ebola disease by providing hand washing facilities to schools that are near boarder’s, the donation items are worth 65 million shillings.

The Kasese Deputy Resident District Commissioner in charge of Bukonzo County, Lt. Maate Magwara, has welcomed the donation of hand washing supplies by Caritas Kasese, describing the support as timely in strengthening efforts to prevent the spread of the Ebola virus.

Speaking during the handover of the consignment to the Kasese District leadership at the district headquarters yesterday, Lt. Magwara urged residents to remain vigilant, noting that Kasese’s proximity to the Democratic Republic of Congo places the district at heightened risk of an Ebola outbreak.

Lt. Magwara also called on churches, mosques, and educational institutions to make effective use of the donated supplies to help curb the spread of the disease.

The Ebola Response Focal Person at Caritas Kasese, Mr. Adidas Kule, said the donated supplies comprising liquid soap, jerry cans, water storage buckets, face masks, and hand sanitizers valued at 65 million shillings, are intended to strengthen Ebola prevention efforts in institutions located along the Uganda–Democratic Republic of Congo border, which remain at high risk of cross-border transmission.

He encouraged the public to embrace regular hand washing, temperature screening, and avoid large gatherings as key preventive measures.
