Residents called to remain vigilant and be able to identify children that miss classes.
The Local Council One Chairperson for Basecamp Upper Cell in Kasese Municipality, Mr. David Nzande, has called on residents to remain vigilant and help identify school-going children who skip classes and instead hide in unfinished buildings, bushes, and other secluded places during school hours.
Speaking to Kasese Guide Radio at his office yesterday, Mr. Nzande said his office has intensified community sensitization campaigns encouraging parents and guardians to ensure that all school-age children attend school regularly.
He said local leaders have stepped up efforts to hold parents and guardians accountable for the whereabouts of their children, emphasizing that every child of school-going age should be in class rather than roaming or hiding within the community.
Mr. Nzande further appealed to parents and guardians to prioritize their children’s education, saying investing in education is one of the greatest expressions of love and care for their future.
