Kasese police probe mob justice death of 28-year-old man

Police in Hima Division, Kasese District, are investigating the circumstances surrounding the alleged mob killing of a 28-year-old man accused of theft.

The deceased, identified as Muhammad Monday, was reportedly attacked alongside another suspect, Abdullah Thembo, by an angry mob in Sayuni Central Cell, Rugendabara-Kikongo Town Council yesterday.

According to the Rwenzori East Regional Police spokesperson, SP Elly Maate, Abdullah was rescued by police, while Muhammad succumbed to his injuries as officers rushed him to a health facility for treatment.

SP Maate condemned the act of mob justice, urging members of the public to hand over suspected criminals to the police instead of taking the law into their own hands.
