Gatekeeper arrested over alleged defilement of student

A gatekeeper at Bristol Secondary School in Railway Ward, Kasese Municipality has been arrested by police over allegations of impregnating a secondary school student, in an incident that has sparked concern within the school community.

While police have yet to issue an official statement, the school’s Director, Mr Augustine Bahati, confirmed the incident and identified the suspect only as Mr Geoffrey.

Mr Bahati also noted that investigations are expected to explore reports that the suspect and the victim may have had a long-standing relationship.

The Executive Director of Kasese Youth Link, Mr Ronald Kato, condemned the incident, calling for professionalism and responsibility among school staff, and warning against any attempts to quietly settle matters he described as “capital in nature”.

Earlier, Mr Bahati expressed concern over the potential impact on the learner’s ability to concentrate as she prepares for her national examinations.
