Division Chair blames government for lengthy bureaucratic processes in contract awarding

The LCIII Chairperson of Bulembia Division in Kasese Municipality, Mr Richard Bomera, has called for legislative reforms to reduce lengthy bureaucratic procedures, which he says have delayed the timely completion of public projects, including the maternity ward at Kilembe Health Centre III currently under construction by the UPDF Engineering Brigade.

Speaking during the handover of five solar panels to the facility yesterday, Mr Bomera said the new lighting system would significantly improve night-time service delivery for health workers. However, he stressed the need to streamline administrative processes to ensure that government projects are implemented and completed within the planned timeframes.

Kasese Municipal Mayor, His Worship Chance Kahindo, echoed Mr Bomera’s concerns about lengthy bureaucratic procedures within government agencies. However, he emphasised that his office would ensure the equitable distribution of resources received from the central government to support development across the municipality.

Among the projects commissioned yesterday were the refurbished Kasese Municipal Mortuary and its pit latrine, the Kyababinga public toilet, and a new pit latrine at Buhunga Primary School, along with several other community development initiatives aimed at improving public health and sanitation services.
