Rwenzururu Kingdom calls for mindset change & unity among subjects

During a visit to the royal tomb of the first Omusinga, Isaya Mukirania, Omusinga Charles Wesley Mumbere Iremangoma urged his subjects to embrace dialogue and peaceful engagement, saying conflicts in the Kingdom should now be addressed with a pen rather than spears and machetes.

Rwenzururu King, His Majesty Charles Wesley Mumbere Iremangoma, has called on Banya Rwenzururu to embrace mindset change and uphold the five pillars of the Kingdom as part of efforts to rebrand and strengthen the institution.

The pillars include peace, unity in diversity, reconciliation, mindset change and socio-economic transformation.

The King’s message was delivered by the Minister of Information, Mobilization and Kingdom spokesperson, Hon. Geoffrey Kanyonyi, during a ceremony held yesterday at the Bulemba Royal Tombs in the Rwenzori Mountains, Kasese District to mark 60 years since the death of the first Rwenzururu King, Isaya Mukirania Musabuli.

In his message, King Mumbere said the nature of conflicts in the Kingdom has changed, with the institution now embracing a pen for dialogue and peaceful engagement instead of the spears and machetes that characterized the earlier struggles.

Meanwhile, the Rwenzururu Kingdom Minister for Cultural Heritage, Native Administration and Veterans Affairs, Hon. Aganatiya Katya, told the Banya Rwenzururu that the memorial ceremony is a start for the preparations for the annual coronation anniversary celebrations of His Majesty Charles Wesley Mumbere.

Representing the Royal Family, Prince Charles Masanduku Maate commended Banya Rwenzururu for observing and respecting the Memorial Day; cautioning the Kingdom subjects against deforestation and planting tree species that do not support and preserve the existing ecosystem of the Rwenzori Mountains.
