As the Diocese of Kasese joins the Catholic community across Uganda in marking Missionary Holy Childhood Sunday this week, catechists and the laity have been urged to organise celebrations at their respective local churches to give children an opportunity to actively participate before their fellow Christians.
Speaking to Kasese Guide Radio at his diocesan offices yesterday, the Director of the Pontifical Mission Societies in the Diocese of Kasese, Rev. Fr. Augustine Byaruhanga, said that unlike previous years, when the celebrations featured parish and diocesan-level music, dance and drama competitions based on the annual themes, this year’s observance will be held at individual local churches.
He explained that the arrangement is intended to enable parents, guardians and the wider Christian community to witness and support the active participation of Holy Childhood members in their respective congregations.
Rev. Fr. Augustine Byaruhanga encouraged children to actively participate in the Missionary Holy Childhood Sunday celebrations, saying the occasion offers them an opportunity to experience, live and share their faith within their local church communities.
He also appealed to parents and guardians to attend and encourage their children to take part in the celebrations, describing their participation as vital for the future of the Church.
