Five survive after house hit by disaster in Nyamatunga 111 village, Kasese District .

Five survive death after a heavy rains led to collapse of several houses.

Five people narrowly escaped death after a heavy downpour triggered the collapse of several houses in Nyamatunga III Village, Munkunyu Sub-county, Kasese District, leaving a trail of destruction and property worth millions of shillings lost.

The area LC I Chairperson, Mr. Reuben Mugisa, identified the affected residents as Mr. Robert Pipi, Mr. Muhindo Kipepere, Mr. Wilson Baluku and Mr. Ombeni Bwambale, adding that a newly constructed school building also collapsed during the incident.

Despite the extensive damage, no fatalities or injuries were reported. Mugisa said the value of the destroyed property is estimated to run into millions of shillings, although the exact cost is yet to be established.

The former area woman councilor for Munkunyu sub-county, Ms. Loice Kiranzi partly attributed disaster in the area to continued indiscriminative cutting of trees, asking community members to conserve the environment for the future.
