68 year old man commits suicide to elude arrest

A 68 year old man who is a resident of Akalo Sub County, Kole district has committed suicide to elude arrest.

The deceased, Okori Sam a resident of Oroc village, Barakalo parish hanged himself inside his house using a mosquito net, upon citing police officers who had gone to arrest him for threatening one Odyek Moses.

Kenneth Ogwal a local resident said Okori committed suicide at around 05:30am today.

He said after Okori committing suicide, his relatives turned violent against police who fled, leaving behind their motorcycle.

Peter Obong, the LC1 chairman of Oroc village told Voice of Lango FM that Okori recently issued death threats to his neighbor Odyek Moses during a misunderstanding.

Obong said they reported the matter to police and today they were supposed to have a meeting to resolve the matter but Okori unfortunately committed suicide.

By press time, Obong said they were liaising with police to pick up the body of Okori and record statements.
