Mob lynches man who killed brother and packed his body in a sack

An angry mob yesterday lynched a man suspected to have killed his brother, packed his body in a sack and dumped it in a swamp.

Onyanga Bosco reportedly killed his brother, Akor Denis over a land wrangle in Bar-rwot village, Akor Parish, Agweng Town Council in Lira district. After killing Akor, Onyanga cut his body into pieces and packed in in a sack.

Onyanga and Akor are members of Orak Ochola Iyam-Iyam clan.

Ayo Vincent, a local of the area told Voice of Lango FM said members of the clan demanded that Onyanga takes them to where he dumped Akor’s body and the former took them to the swamp where the body was found. The mob then pounced on him and hacked him to death.

Agweng town council chairman, Thomson Oyena condemned the murder and cautioned people against taking the law into their own hands.

Lira District vice chairperson Bonny Omara visited the area and said such murders should not repeat itself.

By press time yesterday, police had reached the crime scene to launch investigation into the matter.
