In a significant show of support for the gospel music industry, Victoria University Kampala has today announced that it will be the full sponsor of Pastor Wilson Bugembe’s 20th Anniversary concert, set to take place on 8 August 2025 at the Kampala Serena Hotel. The announcement was made during a press briefing at the university campus, where the Vice-Chancellor, Dr Lawrence Muganga, praised Bugembe for his humility and unwavering commitment to serving God through music.

Dr Muganga expressed the university’s pride in sponsoring such a landmark event and highlighted the importance of music as a tool for promoting peace and unity. He also took the opportunity to speak about the transformative potential of Artificial Intelligence (AI), encouraging students to embrace new technologies and innovations. “At Victoria University, we don’t compete with any other institution. We are unique in our teaching style, and our aim is to nurture the next generation of leaders who will excel in both traditional and emerging fields,” Dr Muganga stated.

Pastor Wilson Bugembe, lead pastor of The Worship House in Nansana Municipality, Uganda, expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the university for their support. In a conversation with journalists, he shared advice for young artists, urging them to remain patient, humble, and to put God first in their careers. He also addressed the issue of children running away from home, explaining that many are simply seeking love and care. “Young people run from home because they are looking for love,” Bugembe said, emphasising the importance of love and family support.

Regarding the recent Attorney General’s letter about the registration of churches, Bugembe supported the initiative, acknowledging it as a good idea but stressing that proper guidance must be provided to ensure it does not negatively affect the church community.

Bugembe also thanked his sponsors, including MTN, who have come together to ensure the success of the upcoming concert. He expressed deep gratitude to Victoria University for being his “number one sponsor,” and encouraged fans to attend the event at the Serena Hotel. “I believe I have been made by prayer. I am so grateful to God, and I call upon everyone to come and celebrate with me as I give thanks to God. It will be a night to remember,” he added.

The concert will celebrate Pastor Bugembe’s iconic career, featuring some of his most popular hits such as Yellow, Wandibade Mufu, Wanaaza, It’s My Turn, Omwooyo, Bilibabitya, Maviivi, and Kani. Students of Victoria University who have successfully performed Pastor Bugembe’s songs were also given free tickets to attend the highly anticipated event, which promises to be an unforgettable night of music, prayer, and celebration.

With the support of Victoria University, the concert is expected to draw thousands of attendees, marking a major milestone in Bugembe’s illustrious two-decade career.
