The business community in Uganda was celebrated for its contribution to job creation and national development during the People’s Choice Quality Awards held yesterday at the Imperial Royale Hotel in Kampala.
The Minister of Gender, Labour and Social Development, Hon Betty Amongi, who officiated as the chief guest, praised companies for easing the burden on government by employing millions of Ugandans. She noted that when people are gainfully employed, they are less likely to engage in crime, and urged businesses to continue supporting the country’s socio-economic growth.
“I am grateful to join you on this special day as you receive your awards. I want to thank the organisers of these awards for their consistency, and the business community for creating jobs for Ugandans. The government is proud of you,” she said.
The Managing Director of Horeb Services Uganda Limited, Ezera Mugisha, expressed gratitude to the organisers while receiving his company’s award.
“I am thankful to God for yet another award. It is because of the hard work we put in every day and the professionalism of our team. Being recognised by clients is a serious achievement, and we do not take it for granted,” Mugisha said, adding that despite challenges, Horeb Services has continued to stand out as a leader in its sector.
Other award recipients included Sums, ICEA LION Uganda, Uganda Baati, and Ba Kayima, among others. In the categories of Best Excellence and Best Roofing Sheets Brand, Uganda Baati emerged as the winner. The company’s Brand Manager, Lynne Miremembe, said the recognition was proof of the trust customers continue to place in their products. She reaffirmed the company’s pledge to maintain leadership in quality, innovation, and reliability while delivering the best to customers and the wider community.
