The President of the Seventh-day Adventist (SDA) Church in Uganda, Pastor Samuel Kajoba, has called on Ugandans to uphold peace as the country heads toward the general elections.

Pastor Kajoba made the appeal while leading a special Sabbath service at the Wakiso Seventh-day Adventist Church, one of his official visits since assuming leadership of the church. The event drew several leaders and congregants from neighboring churches, including SDA Kakiri, SDA Nkoowe, SDA Bbanda, and SDA Namusera.

“I want to thank you for warmly welcoming us. Before becoming president, I had planned to visit this church because it is also my church,” Pastor Kajoba said. “We are in an election period, and I urge everyone to advocate for peace. We should not wish to see what happened when this government came to power, because it was terrible and many lives were lost. Our children cannot go to school or enjoy life when the country is at war.”

He also encouraged believers to strengthen their families through prayer and faith, warning that many families are breaking apart because people no longer uphold core family values.

Meanwhile, Wakiso Resident City Commissioner (RCC) Justine Mbabazi, who represented the Minister for the Presidency, Hon. Milly Babirye Babalanda, commended the SDA Church for its role in transforming lives and promoting peace.

“I want to thank the archbishop for preaching the right message about peace,” Mbabazi said. “I urge other religious leaders to do the same. We need a peaceful country. I also call on the people of Wakiso to participate in government programs such as the Parish Development Model (PDM) to fight poverty and unemployment. This money is for all Ugandans, not for any political group.”

Other leaders who attended the event included Pastor Larry Lubega, who oversees SDA churches in Wakiso District; Elder Vincent Kasozi, chairperson of the organizing committee; and Ms. Paulina Kasasa, among others.
