The National Resistance Movement (NRM) party has today held the second day of picking nomination forms, with various party members expressing interest in contesting for different positions. The exercise is taking place at the party headquarters in Kampala.

The Member of Parliament for Ntenjeru North Constituency and Minister of State for Finance, Planning and Economic Development, Amos Lugoloobi, has urged NRM members to actively engage in the process, saying it is fast and efficient.

Similarly, Sarah Kabarokole, an aspiring Woman MP for Bunyangabu district, picked her nomination forms and stated that she is determined to address the challenges facing the people of Bunyangabu. She expressed optimism about winning the party primaries.

Aine Godfrey Kaguta Sodo, President Museveni’s brother, has also picked nomination forms. Kaguta assured voters of Mawogola North Constituency in Sembabule district that the issues from the previous elections would not reoccur. He emphasised his continued support for the community, especially the youth, through various programs.
“After the last elections, I stayed on the ground and have been helping several groups, especially the youth, through various programs. I am sure that being MP will enable me to deliver more services to the people of Mawogola North,” he said, adding that the constituency has been lagging behind and he has returned to address that. He expects a free and fair primary election.

Additionally, former RCC for Kampala, Amina Lukanga, has expressed interest in contesting for the position of Woman Member of Parliament for Kampala district. While speaking to journalists after picking the nomination forms, Lukanga said her motivation to contest is rooted in the need for improved service delivery in Kampala.
“What prompted me to come to Kampala is service delivery. If I am given the opportunity, I will do it very well. Remember, I have been in Kampala for some time, meaning I know what should be done for the people of Kampala,” she said.
