Speaker Among officially nominated by the NRM party electoral commission

The National Resistance Movement (NRM) party Electoral Commission chairperson, Dr. Tanga Odoi, has duly nominated the speaker of Parliament Rt Hon Anita Among and declared her as the sole candidate for Bukedea, since her opponent does not qualify. “The exercise will take place from 17th to 30th June 2025 and will be free of charge. Members are required to come with two people; nominator and seconder.” he said. The party Electoral Commission chairperson.

The chairperson also emphasized that those who won’t be able to come with the two people, they can come with their identity cards but members who picked the nomination forms, should not be represented by anyone. Tanga in the same manner has called upon members of the party willing to express interest to become a Central Cxecutive Committee (CEC) member should submit in their interest from 26th June to 1st July 2025.

According to the National Resistance Movement party Electoral Commission chairperson, whoever is willing to contest for any position in the party, must be aware that the nomination fee is non-refundable. Tanga Odoi, said that the money paid by the party members is used to run the party activities and has emphasized that members should keep that in mind to avoid inconveniences. The NRM party is committed to finance the nomination fees for their candidates when the national exercise kicks off. However, the Electoral Commission chairperson, has told the media that they don’t have enough money to cater for that but they will make sure that all their candidates with the party flag, will be supported in any way possible.

According to Dr. Tanga Odoi, party members who were nominated before 17th June, are the ones with special assignments by government and they won’t be able available during the stated timeline. Last week, the chairperson of the party, told journalists that over 2000 party members of National Resistance Movement picked nomination for expression of interest in various positions namely; Member of Parliament, Mayor and LCV and they all paid a none-refundable fee of Uganda Shillings 3 million and Uganda Shillings 1 million for mayors and LCV respectively.
