NRM members starts picking forms to contest for CEC positions

The National Resistance Movement (NRM) party, through its electoral commission, has today kicked off the exercise of party members who wish to stand for the party Central Executive Committee (CEC) position in different parts of the country. The (CEC) which is the decision making party organ, is a very crucial committee which also determines how the party should be run.

The party Electoral Commission Chairperson, Dr Tanga Odoi, while speaking to journalists confirmed that over 60 members which he refused to disclose, have already picked forms to stand for (CEC) Positions. Tanga has also urged the party members who haven’t been nominated to use the remaining days, saying that they are not going to add more days, due to the commission’s busy schedule. It should be remembered that over 2000 members of the party, picked forms to contest in various positions of the party which include; member of Parliament, LCV and Mayor respectively.

Some of the party members who have picked forms to contest for (CEC) positions are Uhuru Salim, among others. Speaking to journalists, the current mayor of Kampala Central, Uhuru said that he has come to clean the image of the party in Kampala. It should be noted that the National Resistance Movement has been performing badly in the Central Region of the country and the party have been trying so much to find ways of winning the hearts of the people living in the central region.

According to the chairperson of the Electoral Commission of the NRM, Dr Tanga Odoi, the members who are willing to pick forms for (CEC) positions should not exceed 1st July 2025 since from 2nd to 4th July 2025, the members will be returning their forms. The chairperson has also announced that tomorrow the party members who will be returning forms should be aware that they will close at 2pm, so that they prepare for the big day, which is Saturday, when president Museveni and the chairman of the NRM party, will be picking forms for the party chairmanship and for presidential flag bearer. The party announced that following the (CEC ) meeting in 2019, they endorsed president Museveni to be their flag bearer, in 2021 and beyond.
