The Chairperson of the Communications and Signage Sub-Committee, Dr Dennis Mugimba, has praised Uganda Cranes fans for their massive turnout and spirited support during the CHAN 2024 tournament. Speaking at the Uganda Media Centre in Kampala on behalf of the Local Organising Committee (LOC), Mugimba said the team’s emphatic victory over Guinea brought joy to millions of supporters and electrified the atmosphere at Namboole Stadium.
“As the Local Organising Committee, we sincerely thank fans for turning out in such huge numbers. Your cheers gave the team the extra energy to recover the ball, defend, and score,” he said.
He also commended fans for cooperating with the Uganda Police Force by following safety guidelines, which are enforced not only at Namboole but also in fan zones and parks across the country, including KCCA and Kings Park Arena in Bweyogerere. Mugimba noted that stadium kiosks are now fully stocked with approved food and drinks.
The LOC urged fans to purchase tickets early, citing high demand for the remaining matches. “Your safety is the beginning of a great experience,” Mugimba said, reminding parents bringing children to remain mindful of crowd safety as the stadium often fills to capacity.
The Uganda Cranes have two matches left in the tournament, and the LOC wished them continued success.
